Job Summary:Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the provision of quality and timely nursing care to the Sisters in alignment with the mission and values of the Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary. The LPN is responsible for the efficient operation of the nursing service. The LPN provides skilled nursing care to all Sisters according to their individual needs including the administration of medications and treatments. Job Responsibilities:Administers proper medication and treatment, monitor medication doses and individual responsesMakes rounds to ascertain the needs of the Sisters and make sure the needs are being metSupervises the Nursing Assistants to ensure quality nursing care is being renderedReport to the Director of Nursing any changes in the Sisters baseline, including behavior, complaints, physical symptoms, skin alterations, response to medication or treatment, etc. Notifies the Director of Nursing of any emergenciesReviews physicians orders, notes and implements any medication and treatment changes accordinglyIn the absence of the medical scheduler, makes and changes appointments with physicians and therapistsParticipates in person-centered care and ensures the quality of nursing careCollects, tracks, and maintains Sisters medical charts as appropriate; records any new datesCommunicates regularly with the Convent pharmacy to ensure all Sisters receive their medications as orderedPerforms additional duties as neededSupervisory Responsibilities: The LPN supervises the care given by the nursing assistants on duty
